January - Nate turned 2. We had a "Nate Dog" birthday party, complete with doggie bag treats for our guests, labeled with dog tags, and "dog" food for snacks. I have no pictures of any of that so you'll just have to trust me that it was among our most creative and fabulous party themes ever (poor second child syndrome). Just this precocious little guy, in one of the few moments he would actually look at the camera. Ah, the life of a two year old.
February 2009 - Visit to the MouseWe visited Josh and Meaghan over President's Day weekend and really had a great time. Nate's first plane trip and visit to Disney was a success. But really, we could've just bought this balloon and called it quits there. Nate loves balloons. Maggie started making plans for coming back this summer by herself. We love that Uncle Josh works for Mickey.
Also in February - Nate performs swan dive into bathtub - click here to read about that.
March 2009 - visit with Mamaw. Although the Alzheimer's is advancing and she'd had a stroke, it was great seeing her in such good spirits. She may not remember our names, but the light that comes in her eyes when seeing her great grandchildren reminds me of the woman I've always known, who's always had a special place in her heart for children. And yes, I probably should've photoshop'd that big goose egg off Nate's forehead from where he'd kissed the sidewalk just minutes before. But that's just him these days, and we're praying DHR doesn't start asking too many questions. I've never had a kid with a broken bone, but I can see it in our future and am just trying to prepare myself in advance so I'll be cool as a cucumber when it happens.

July 2009
Maggie was home only 1 of the 4 weeks this month. Between her "Survivor Week" at Camp Maranatha, and the two fabulous weeks she spent at Disney Day Camp, living with Josh and Meaghan, she was quite the traveller. She swam with sharks, learned about large animal veterinary care at the Animal Kingdom, went horseback riding, and had an all around great time. On the weekend in between camps, super cool Uncle Josh and Aunt Meaghan treated her to an excursion kayaking with the manatees, and a visit to Cocoa Beach!

After picking Maggie up at the airport, we went to the Nashville Zoo. Nate really missed having Maggie around - apparently, Joel and I aren't quite as much fun as she is. He would hardly let her out of his sight upon her return.
Liz and JC got a cabin at the Neshoba County Fair, and we had a great time. While Nate, Joel and I just stayed for the first weekend, Maggie got to stay into the week, then go down to Jackson to spend time with the Robinsons and Tullars. A great end to her fun summer!
August 2009
School started: Maggie's in 6th grade now, which is so hard to even believe. They started the year off with a dance the first week, so she's jumped in with both feet. Nate continues at First Baptist in daycare, but is in a new class and is really thriving. He can count to ten in Spanish for you, and twenty in English, if you don't care that he must go in order :)
September 2009
A quick Labor Day visit over to Philly, with a fun MSU football win, and celebrating Pop's birthday. Pop really likes coconut cake (and grandchildren singing "Happy Birthday"). Pop says grandchildren are God's reward for not killing your children. I remind myself of this some days.
