Beach Bums

For the Fourth of July weekend, we finally took Aunt Mary Nell up on her offer to come visit her beautiful beachfront Carillon home, and boy are we hooked! She is such a fantastic hostess and made us feel right at home, even with the proverbial 3 year old boy/bull in the antique china shop! We left with promises to come back in the fall, and were so happy to report that there were no tar balls on the sugar sand beaches.
Mariane loved the beach, and said the sand here reminds her of her home in Corsica. We have agreed that we will have to visit some time to compare! Maggie and Mariane were always horsing around and having a good time - she's quite a sport :)
This was Nate's first trip to the beach, and he is going to forever love it if this was any indication. He had so much fun and wanted to be out on the sand every minute, although it took him a little longer to warm up to the idea of the ocean. He likes looking at it, but is still a little timid about running right out into it. I'm sure that won't last long...
Maggie turned 12 on July 3 and we celebrated with a lunch at The Red Bar followed by cake later back at Aunt Mary Nell's home. She had a fun day.
